The Team

Who are we?
We are a team of five active members, who share a love of Africa and a passion for holistic health and wellbeing with a very down-to-earth approach.
While in Africa we keep it local as much as we can, making our way around on rickety buses, staying in local accommodation, and relishing the local cuisine.

We are all homeopaths and EFT practitioners and take a keen interest in the Work of Byron Katie (two of us are graduates of her School).
Amongst our members’ additional skills are, nursing skills with African experience, cranio-sacral therapy, research, good knowledge of nutrition, good conversational Swahili.

Since 2003, we have been involved in spreading the use of homeopathy in Tanzania. We started introducing EFT in Tanzania and Kenya 3 years ago and we are now training barefoot practitioners. More recently, we have brought The Work of Byron Katie to Kenya and it was received with great enthusiasm by Franciscan nuns, AIDS advocates and people who are HIV+.

Additionally, we sponsor students of a homeopathic nursing School in Kwale that provides training to young women on a three-year full-time course. We support two homeopaths who are working in northern Tanzania with people who suffer from HIV/AIDS. We assist a Tanzanian homeopath who has been successfully treating thousands of people suffering from malaria. His project has been fully endorsed by the Tanzanian Government. We also provide financial support to AIDS orphans in the care of Franciscan’s nuns.

I have been practicing as a paediatric nurse since qualifying in 1987. I first went to Africa in the early 1990's, working as an aid worker in Somalia and Rwanda. I fell in love with East Africa even though the circumstances were tough.
When I returned to Ireland my experiences led me to look for more holistic approaches to health, homeopathy fitted exactly what I was looking for. I qualified as a homeopath in 2000 and I have also done 2 postgraduate courses. In 2007 I first experienced EFT and was so impressed by the results that I trained as a practitioner. I have been privileged since joining Uzima to be a part of this project bringing these effective and natural therapies to people in Tanzania and Kenya. I love how the people in Africa embrace them as they resonate closely with their own traditional healing methods.

Homeopath, EFT Practitioner and Trainer and passionate about The Work of Byron Katie. I was reared with African people, lived in Tanzania for nearly 3 years in the 90’s and I have been going back since 2003 to promote and spread simple and empowering healing methods in Africa.
I love building bridges between communities, for people to see that there is only one human race despite our apparent differences.

My background is in Biomedical Science but I have a keen sense of the holistic nature and healing power of our own bodies. Homeopathy and Craniosacral therapy are my passion. I qualified from the Burren School of Homeopathy in 2000 and went on to do further postgraduate studies. Later I fell in love with  Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy and EFT and discovered how wonderfully they all complement each other.
My first, and life changing, visit to Africa was in 1986. I fell in love with the people and the continent. Since joining Uzima I have witnessed first hand how the African people have responded to and embraced homeopathy and EFT. My dream is to help spread these simple, effective and low cost therapies in many African countries.

What more can one want than to spread and teach the work one loves in places that each holds their individual beauty and needs? And so it is my dream and the vision of Uzima to spread these skills and tools anywhere people invite us to. I am an EFT Practitioner & Trainer, a great lover of The Work by Byron Katie, and a homeopath. I have been visiting African countries, Americas and Europe since 2004 bringing these effective healing methods to anyone who wishes to experience or learn for themselves. I visit Tanzania and Kenya frequently to promote these simple, costless, wonderful tools that can be used by anyone for physical, emotional and heartfelt well being.

As a smallholder and organic grower in the 80’s, my choice to opt for natural ways of healing seemed like the way to go. What was first an interest developed into a passion and I qualified first as a homeopath, then continued training in the Bach Flower Remedies, Reiki and lately EFT as well as being the occasional whole food vegetarian chef!
I have been hooked on Africa since my first visit to Tanzania in 2006. I love being a tourist in East Africa but more importantly my heart sings at the wonders I have witnessed with
homeopathy and EFT there. It is my wish to continue spreading these amazing therapies to people who are remarkably receptive and enthusiastic.
