"The subtle energies that circulate throughout the body have been largely ignored (until recently) by Western scientists. As a result, our use of them for emotional and spiritual healing has been sparse at best. With EFT, however, we consider these subtle energies to be the front-running cause of emotional upsets." Gary Craig

It is the revolutionary therapy of Emotional Freedom Techniques which painlessly heals physical symptoms and emotional trauma, and often works where nothing else will.

It is a branch of energy psychology and is based on the belief that all physical and emotional problems can be traced to a disturbance in the body’s energy system.
It is a profoundly simple technique, which essentially involves tapping on a handful of acupuncture points while repeatedly naming the problem. But despite its graceful simplicity EFT gets powerful results giving relief from severe physical pains and emotional traumas, neutralising acute fears, phobias and addictions.

It doesn’t cost anything. We work in communities where people have nearly nothing. A lot of these villages have a very high incidence of malaria, malnutrition and AIDS with the implications of high infant mortality rate, short life expectancy, a lot of single parent or orphan households, etc…
Governments are struggling to provide those communities with adequate healthcare and often those people have very limited access to any medical staff or facilities as well as not having the bus fare to travel to the local hospital.
Whereas EFT is obviously not the solution to all medical problems and epidemics, it gives these villagers a very free, practical, empowering and sustainable solution to some of their everyday health challenges.

It can be learned in minutes. Being quite a repetitive process, it is easily learnt and memorized.  We teach villagers of all ages, men and women. The participants are invited to attend a couple of workshops in a row to make sure they understand and memorize the technique.

Bridges are already in place. We introduce EFT with the support of the local community development officers, religious representatives and medical staff who have all shown a very keen interest in learning more.

Broad spectrum of action and rapid results. Most of our treatments have been focused on physical pain: sciatica, arthritis, back pain, etc… These tend to reduce the mobility of the individual, making it difficult for them to go about their daily tasks of walking, carrying loads, and farming by hand to feed their family.
We have addressed a lot of emotional issues of course such as anxiety about the future and grief of having lost a partner, a parent, a child, etc…
Traumas and PTSD resulting from terror, displacement, violence and rape, etc. are also prevalent in places that have been affected by violent conflicts and once again, EFT has proven very effective treating the people with the rapidity and depth that we know. Despair and hopelessness are mostly present in patients who have been affected by AIDS and EFT helps to improve their moral, their energy levels and reduce the intensity of the numerous physical symptoms that accompany this disease (headaches, itching, bone pains, fatigue, vertigo…).

It is empowering. Imminently simple, easy to memorize and portable, once an individual has learned the basic technique, it is theirs for life to use and to share with the rest of their community. We hope that each person we reach will in turn teach another ten.
Because it can be practiced on a one-to-one or in groups, large sections of the population can learn EFT in a short space of time, with no need for expensive equipment or facilities.
We are also training Barefoot EFT practitioners who will keep spreading the technique.

EFT in Africa, start making a difference

Uru Villages, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania
We have been giving a number of EFT workshops to a group of four villages scattered in the rain forest on the slopes of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
A local Community Development Officer gathers between 20 and 50 villagers and the workshop is conducted outside or under a porch.

We start by teaching everyone the Basic Recipe, focusing on pains and aches with a lot of group tapping. The tapping points are taught through a simple diagram drawn on a blackboard. Simple handouts in Swahili are distributed.

We then give one to one sessions to volunteers and each session is supported by the rest of the group who tap along.

At each workshop, we identify a couple of individuals, male and female who seem to have a natural ability for EFT. Those are encouraged to tap on the others with the support of one of us if they get stuck. They are invited to come along the next day as helpers, after a few days, they may even start teaching and conduct one to one and group sessions on their fellow villagers with our full support and advice.

Typically, a workshop lasts for 4 to 5 hours, depending on the number of participants and we go back to the same village 3 to 5 days in a row.

In June 2010, we brought a team of six qualified and experienced EFT practitioners to extend this program. As well as treating about 100 villagers we also trained 10 teachers, community workers and lay people.

EFT in Action Uzima EFT class

Franciscan Nuns, Lwak, Kenya
Lwak is a tiny village located on the shores of Lake Victoria in Western Kenya. . It has a very well-established Franciscan Nuns Community with a convent, a well equipped hospital, dispensary, support groups for AIDS patients, primary and secondary boarding school.

We have conducted some simple introduction workshops for the hospital medical staff just introducing the basic technique and subsequently we have been invited to come back. In February 2010 we did some training with some 20 participants amongst which medical staff, community and AIDS workers, and members of the local community.

The training was spread over 7 days of which 5 full days were dedicated to EFT and two full days to The Work of Byron Katie. We also offered private consultations as the need arose.

The course included personal training and theory in class with hands-on practical exercises on each other and Borrowing Benefits sessions.

The participants experienced the healing effects of EFT on themselves. They learnt how to treat people who suffer from physical pain, emotional turmoil, etc... and how to conduct a short workshop that would benefit groups and individuals who can then apply EFT on themselves.
